 rn European Studies Department.</h3><p>The UBC Central\, Eastern & Northern
  European Studies (CENES) Department is pleased to invite you to our third 
 annual Careers Night with CENES Alumni on January 22nd\, 2025.</p><p>CENES 
 will be inviting alumni from each of our CENES programs (<a href="https://c
 enes.ubc.ca/undergraduate/german-studies/">German</a>\, <a href="https://ce
 nes.ubc.ca/undergraduate/nordic-studies/">Nordic</a>\, <a href="https://cen
 es.ubc.ca/undergraduate/slavic-studies/">Slavic</a> and <a href="https://ce
 nes.ubc.ca/undergraduate/modern-european-studies/">Modern European Studies<
 /a>) to speak to the full CENES experience. Current students can hear about
  our alumni's undergraduate journey first hand\, and ask questions about wh
 at careers and opportunities are possible with a CENES degree.</p><h2>Event
  Programming:</h2><p>Doors open at 5:30pm.</p><p>The event will begin promp
 tly at 5:50pm with a moderated panel\, giving our alumni an opportunity to 
 speak about their careers and how their time in CENES helped them get there
 .</p><p>There will be a Q&A portion after the panel where audience members 
 can ask their own questions\, followed by a social hour where students will
  have an opportunity to chat and interact with the alumni\, peers\, and fac
 ulty.</p><p>There will be light appetizers and refreshments from <a href="h

 blishing</strong></p><p>Lara Kordic has translated her lifelong love of his
 tory\, culture\, and literature into a 15-year career in book publishing. S
 he holds a BA (Modern European Studies and History) from UBC and a Master o
 f Publishing degree from SFU. Born and raised in Vancouver\, she currently 
 lives in Victoria.</p><h3>Minori Kato-Hopkins (she/her)</h3><p><img class="

 an Studies) in 2019\, and holds a MA in Children’s Literature from the UBC 
 School of Information. As a researcher of New Media and an Open Education e
 nthusiast\, Minori is passionate about highlighting interactive and accessi
 ble storytelling and how they can enhance educational materials.</p><h3>Kal

 ch Coordinator\, University of Victoria\, Public Health and Social Policy</
 strong></p><p>Kalie Stieda completed a Masters in Germanic Studies at UBC i
 n 2017 with her thesis entitled\, "The world is real: Writing\, counting\, 
 and reading in the art of Hanne Darboven." Kalie is now finishing a Master 
 of Public Health from the University of Victoria with a focus on Indigenous
  People's Health and working as a research coordinator for the "Holding Spa
 ce Project" led by Dr. Jeff Masuda. As a part of this work\, Kalie is co-pr
 oducing a podcast series about the V6A Community Garden called Garden of Lo
 ve\, DTES (GOLD) Podcast\, which highlights stories of DTES community care 
 and healing from the land in the face of ongoing colonial violence and oppr
 ession.</p><h3>Ankit Joshi (he/him)</h3><p><img class="size-medium wp-image

 \, Vancouver Fraser Port Authority</strong></p><p>Ankit is currently employ
 ed at the Vancouver Fraser Port Authority as a Logistics Coordinator - Land
  & Rail. Operating from their 24/7/365 Operations Centre\, his role is pivo
 tal in maintaining the seamless flow of goods.</p><p>During the COVID-19 sh
 utdown\, he was among a select group of essential personnel who ensured the
  continuous export and import of goods\, thereby supporting ins sustaining 
 the Canadian economy.</p>
