Experiencing Eastern Europe Student Conference: Slavic Cultures, Topics & Perspectives

Join the UBC Slavic and Eastern European Studies (SEES) program for the annual Experiencing Eastern Europe Conference.

Students are invited to present existing projects on Slavic or Eastern European topics in this annual student conference on Friday, March 20, 10:00 am – 3:00 pm. If you have an existing project related to Slavic or Eastern European topics, this is a wonderful opportunity to share your work. Projects related to Ukraine are especially welcome.

Programming

The conference will take place in the UBC Simon K.Y. Lee Global Lounge and Resource Centre at 2205 Lower Mall. Refreshments will be provided.

As part of the Experiencing Eastern Europe / Slavic Conference, three international diplomats—the Consuls General of Germany, France, and Poland in Vancouver—will share their perspectives on the war in Ukraine and its future. The panel, “Voices from the Weimar Triangle on Ukraine in Vancouver,” will take place from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Global Lounge.

The day will conclude with the CENES Department’s Slavic Tea event, featuring the former Honorary Consul of Ukraine in British Columbia. Students can attend Slavic Tea from 4:00 pm – 5:30 pm in Buchanan Tower 910 + 997.
