 ledge in Eastern European and/or Russian Studies to frame the developing si
 tuation through a focused micro-presentation\, with time for questions or d
 iscussion to follow. We have organized this event for students and colleagu
 es in our university communities who are interested in learning more about 
 the historical\, political\, and cultural context shaping the current war.<
 /p><p>The event is hosted by the UBC Department of Central\, Eastern and No
 rthern European Studies and organized by the Eurasia Research Cluster at UB
 C\, which includes regional experts from area institutions\, including UBC-
 Vancouver and UBC-Okanagan\, University of Victoria\, Simon Fraser Universi
 ty\, Emily Carr University of Art + Design\, Thompson Rivers University\, a
 nd Western Washington University. The Eurasia Research Cluster is supported
  through a grant from the UBC-V Public Humanities Hub.</p><p>This is the fi
 rst of a series of connected events that will focus on Ukraine. Plans are b
 eing made very fast and details on future events will be forthcoming as the
