This workshop will discuss best practice for crafting a strong graduate funding application with special emphasis on the Affiliated Awards and Tri-Agency Awards for MA and PhD students in the humanities. While the workshop will focus on the upcoming application cycle for these awards, Dr Bowers will also give an overview of good strategies for writing a persuasive research proposal, which will be broadly applicable. Attendees will be asked to prepare a draft application in advance and will engage in a guided peer reading process during the workshop. Dr Bowers will also be available to answer questions from attendees. More details will be sent to registered attendees shortly before the workshop.

Dr Bowers is an Associate Professor in Slavic Studies in CENES and has considerable experience with grant capture, which she used to fund her graduate studies and doctoral research in full. Since completing her PhD, she has been awarded more than $500K in competitive grants and fellowships from SSHRC, UBC, and other institutions and granting bodies in North America and Europe.
