 stract:</strong> The talk will explore aspects of Roma Holocaust testimony 
 and its sonic legacy in the context of the contemporary politics of "soundi
 ng Roma" in the Romanian public sphere.</p><p><strong>Bio: </strong>Ioanida
  Costache is a doctoral candidate specializing in ethnomusicology at Stanfo
 rd. Her dissertation\, which she will defend in April 2021\, explores issue
 s of race and ethnicity\, performance/construction of identity\, affect\, c
 ultural memory\, trauma\, and history as they intersect in Romani musico-or
 al traditions of Romania. She is the recipient of a Fulbright Research Gran
 t and Mellon-CES Dissertation Completion Fellowship and visiting fellowship
 s at the USC Shoah Foundation Center for Advanced Genocide Research and the
  Jack\, Joseph and Morton Mandel Center for Advanced Holocaust Studies at t
 he U.S. Holocaust Museum. Other areas of interest include embodiment\, appl
 ied ethnomusicology\, and alternative epistemologies. Her most recent work 
 has appeared in Critical Romani Studies\, The Bridge: The Magazine of Acade
 mia Balkanica Europeana\, and Decat o Revista.</p><hr /><p>Featured image c
