PhD candidate publishes book review on Thomas Mann

PhD Candidate Dante Prado published a book review of Karolina Watroba’s Mann’s Magic Mountain: World Literature and Closer Reading (2023), one of the Waterloo Centre for German Studies’ 2022 Book Prize Finalists, in Seminar: A Journal of Germanic Studies.

Dante Prado is a PhD Candidate in Germanic Studies. His M.A. thesis at the University of Calgary focused on the cultural meaning of laughter in Thomas Mann’s The Magic Mountain (Der Zauberberg, 1924). His doctoral research analyzes the heightened interest in laughter during the so-called “long nineteenth century.”
