What does food security look like on UBC Campus for students?
The Department of Central, Eastern and Northern European Studies and UBC Feed Forward are collaborating on their first event, Trivia Night: Food Security Edition! Join us for free food, prizes, and learn about the state of food security on UBC campus, across Europe, and what resources are available.
In October 2022, the AMS Food Bank has seen a 315% increase in demand from the UBC community. For the past year, CENES has been trying to support our students and peers with our department pantry for those who can take what they need, when they need it. Partnering with Feed Forward, an organization that addresses food insecurity on campus, we hope to raise awareness of this growing issue and support our community by collecting non-perishables to donate to the UBC AMS Food Bank.
What to Expect:
Our Modern European Studies program will lead as through three rounds of trivia. Prizes will be awarded to a winner from each round! Topics will range from food insecurity questions in Vancouver at UBC, food insecurity in Europe, and of course some European pop-culture questions.
Food is first come first served, so make sure to arrive in the earlier half of our event!
How to Attend:
Join us in Buchanan Tower 997 on January 26th from 4:00pm – 6:00pm.
RSVP here to sign up. To play, we are asking everyone to bring a non-perishable item that will be donated to the AMS Food Bank.
