From September 18th-26th, The Cinematheque (1131 Howe Street) in collaboration with the Georgian National Film Centre is hosting a Georgian film festival.
The series will cover the history of Georgian cinema, from the classical period to the “golden age” of Soviet Georgian cinema and contemporary films tackling issues of democratic governance and social justice.
The Department of Central, Eastern and Northern European Studies is a co-sponsor for a panel discussion titled: “Georgia Post-Colonial: National Culture in the Shadow of the Russian and Soviet Empires.” The Opening Night Event on September 21st will begin with a reception where wine from Georgia will be served.
