Join the Ukrainian Student Union for a lecture on September 5, 2025.
In an era dominated by information overload, the mass media landscape has become a battleground for cognitive manipulation and sham reasoning. This lecture explores the sophisticated strategies employed to shape public perception, distort truth, and influence decision-making.
We will examine common tactics of manipulation, including selective framing, emotional priming, and logical fallacies, that undermine critical thinking and erode informational well-being.
By dissecting real-world examples from media discourse (including Ukrainian, Russian, and American sources), the lecture will equip attendees with practical tools to recognize and counter these cognitive attacks.
Lecturer: Valentyna Ushchyna, Doctor of Philology
