Abstract

In this hybrid talk, Dr. Kamil Kijek will speak about the discussions held by the Polish Jewish communities regarding staying in or leaving post-Holocaust Poland (1945-1950).

Bio

Kamil Kijek is an Assistant Professor at the Jewish Studies Department, University of Wrocław, Poland. A former postdoctoral fellow at the Centre for Jewish History in New York and at the Jack, Joseph and Morton Mandel Centre for Advanced Holocaust Studies at the United States Holocaust Museum in Washington DC, Kamil held various fellowships in Israel, Germany, and the United Kingdom. His research interests and numerous publications include themes related to Central-East European Jewish history, and social and cultural theory.

Outside of academia, Kamil dedicates much of time and effort to providing direct, tangible support to Ukraine. As a co-leader of a community-based initiative, he is involved in procuring and delivering goods to people who live in the war zones in the East and South of Ukraine.
