Interested in studying abroad in Germany? Vienna? Attend an Info Session with the UBC German Program to find out how!

UBC German Studies is excited to offer 5 Study Abroad Info Sessions over the course of October to help students identify the study abroad opportunities that will support them in their personal, professional and academic goals.

All our sessions will be hybrid. For those attending in person in BuTo 999A, students  get to share a slice or two of pizza with your fellow future exchange students!

Info Session Schedule – Fall 2024

Canadian Year in Freiburg (CYF) Info Session + PIZZA: Tuesday, Oct 1 @ 12:30 PM in BuTo 999A

DAAD: German Academic Exchange Service Info Session + PIZZA: Wednesday, Oct. 2 @ 11:30 AM in BuTo 999A (RESCHEDULED)

Bauhaus Summer School in Weimar Info Session + PIZZA: Tuesday, Oct. 15 @ 11:30 AM in BuTo 999A

Go Global Vienna Info Session + PIZZA: Thursday, Oct. 24 @ 12:30 PM in BuTo 997

Canadian Summer School in Germany (CSSG) Info Session + PIZZA: Wednesday, Oct. 30th @ 11:30 AM PT

Each session will feature one veggie and one meat pizza. Gluten-free and vegan pizzas are available upon request. Students with dietary restrictions should reach out to ubc.german@ubc.ca 24 hours in advance so that we can ensure all student in attendance have pizza available for them.

Looking for potential funding to study abroad?

DAAD offers opportunities for students of German and students in Science and Engineering (RISE). RISE stands for Research Internships in Science and Engineering. RISE Worldwide offers summer research internships across the world to undergraduate students from Germany with academic training in biology, chemistry, computer science, physics, earth sciences, engineering or a closely related field. RISE Worldwide is funded by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research.

Make sure not to miss out on these dates to apply for scholarships through the German Academic Exchange Service!

October 31 – Research Grants in Germany (for PhD students and recent Postdocs)

October 31 – Research Grants – Bi-nationally Supervised Doctoral Degrees / Cotutelle

October 31 – Study Scholarship – Master’s Studies for All Disciplines

November 1 – German Studies Research Grant (late stage Bachelor, Master’s and PhD students)

December 1 – University Summer Course Grant (for German language learners)
