Ukraine: a Spotlight on the Culture of Change and Resistance

Wednesday May 25, 2022
11:00 AM - 12:30 PM

While the Russian war in Ukraine continues, we in UBC’s Department of Central, Eastern, and Northern European Studies will focus on the experience of people of (and in) Ukraine. We will maintain solidarity with them until Ukraine triumphs over its unprovoked invaders.

Each month, around the day of the unprovoked Russian invasion on February 24 of this year, we will invite new speakers and guests who will contribute their unique insights and perspectives, helping us to keep our consciousness focused on the Ukrainian people, their bravery, their national spirit, as well as cultural and social changes occurring in Ukraine.

Please join us for the second event in the CENES series “Ukraine: a Spotlight on the Culture of Change and Resistance” on Wednesday, May 25, from 11 am-12:30 pm Pacific time via Zoom:

“Small Stories of War in Online Media: True or false?” Dr. Olena Morozova, Kharkiv National University, Ukraine

“Language Does Matter: Language Ideologies in Ukraine from the 2014 Maidan to the Current War,” Dr. Alla Nedashkivska, University of Alberta, Canada
