Ziegler Lecture Series: Childism and the Grimms’ Fairy Tales, or How We Have Happily Rationalized Child Abuse through Storytelling

DATE
Thursday March 3, 2016
TIME
5:00 PM - 6:00 PM

Jack Zipes; Former head of the Department of German, Scandinavian, and Dutch at the University of Minnesota, presently Professor Emeritus.

Jack Zipes combines a critical theoretical study of child abuse in North America (and the world) with an analysis of how children are represented in the Grimms’ tales. It is based on his work with children as a storyteller in elementary schools, and it is intended to explore ways the Grimms’ tales can be used to raise consciousness of child abuse.
