Dr. Elisa Segnini (UBC Department of French, Hispanic and Italian Studies) will present a lecture entitled “Carmen in Sicily: Insularity and Latinity on the European
Elisa Segnini holds an M.A. from the University of Bologna (2004) and a Ph.D. in Comparative Literature from the University of Toronto (2010). She has taught at the University of Toronto, Dalhousie and Western, and is currently an Assistant Professor in Italian Studies at the University of British Columbia. Her research relates to the fields of Italian and Comparative Literature; her interests include the intersection of dramatic literature and visual art, particularly in the 19th and 20th centuries, cross-cultural adaptations, the role of the translator in theatrical productions, representations of Italianness and Latinity in Italian and European literature.
