Dr. Malakaj collaborated with Andrea Dawn Bryant (Georgetown University), Nichole M. Neuman (Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis), and David Gramling (University of Arizona) on the article titled “Announced but Not Enacted: Anti-Racist German Studies as Process.”

“A Queer Century” exhibit, co-curated by Dr. Frackman, travels to UBC Okanagan
“A Queer Century, 1869–1969,” a rare books exhibition co-curated by Dr. Kyle Frackman and Dr. Gregory Mackie (English) and originally displayed in UBC’s Rare Books & Special Collections (June–September 2019), has now travelled to Special Collections at the UBC Okanagan Library, where it will be on display through the end of December 2019.

CENES faculty Dr. Kyle Frackman and Dr. Ervin Malakaj participated in events commemorating the 30th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall co-sponsored by the Consulate General of the Federal Republic of Germany in Vancouver and the UBC Institute for European Studies.

The article appeared in a Fall 2019 special issue of the journal Die Unterrichtspraxis / Teaching German on “Teaching German Studies in a Global Context.”
Dr. Frackman presents at Holocaust Studies conference in Munich
On November 6, 2019, Dr. Kyle Frackman presented at a special iteration of the regular biennial Lessons & Legacies Conference in Munich. Dr. Frackman’s paper, “Unruly and Inconvenient Memory: The Political and Cultural Challenge of Postwar Socialist Homosexuality,” was on a panel on “Homosexuals during the Holocaust and its Aftermath.”
