Last week 14 of UBC’s language coordinators met together for the first time to talk about language instruction at UBC more broadly. Many languages were represented, including the five taught in the CENES department: Danish, German, Polish, Russian, and Swedish. Veta Chitnev, the 1st and 2nd year Russian coordinator, said that the goal of the gathering was “extending our network of alliances and achieving together what we would not be able to accomplish on our own.” The meeting was the first of many, it is hoped, and UBC’s language coordinators will continue to work together to improve communication and exchange between their various units at the university.
