Dr. Bowers Gives Digital Humanities Talk at Stanford Literary Lab

On Thursday, February 18, Dr. Katherine Bowers gave a talk at the Stanford Literary Lab alongside other members of the Data-Sitters Club, a feminist digital humanities collective. Other speakers included Lee Skallerup Bessette (Georgetown), Maria Sachiko Cecire (Mellon Foundation), Quinn Dombrowski (Stanford), Anouk Lang (Edinburgh), and Roopika Risam (Salem State). The group discussed their ongoing collaborative project, “The Data-Sitters Club” (https://datasittersclub.github.io/site/), a colloquial guide to computational text analysis in the humanities focused on the Baby-Sitters Club series (1986-2000) by Ann M. Martin. The project has won two 2019 DH Awards. Dr. Bowers is a founding member of the collective.
