Dr. Frackman featured in Ubyssey

Maximin: Ein Gedenkbuch (Maximin: A Memorial Book, 1907), was the work of German poet Stefan George (1868–1933). Dedicated to the memory of poet Maximilian Kronberger (1888–1904), who died young after contracting meningitis, the book is a beautiful art nouveau presentation of grief from Stefan George and the literary circle that famously orbited him. This rare book is one of approximately 200 copies.

The Ubyssey published an article about UBC’s recent awards from the Strategic Equity and Anti-Racism (StEAR) Fund, which included support for Dr. Frackman‘s collaborative Queer Collections Project (QCP). Dr. Frackman and Dr. Gregory Mackie (English Language and Literatures), both also Centre for European Studies Affiliates, started the QCP in UBC’s Rare Books and Special Collections in 2019 and received StEAR funding in the 2023/24 to support further acquisitions and work with book and media history.
