On February 2, 2025, Dr. Kyle Frackman gave a talk introducing a screening of the East German film Coming Out (1989, dir. Heiner Carow) at Carleton College’s International Film Forum (Northfield, Minnesota).
The screening’s audience included Carleton students and faculty as well as members of the community. Dr. Frackman wrote a book on the landmark film, which was the first and last East German feature film to focus on homosexuality. The book, Coming Out (2022, Camden House), is freely available, open access via the publisher’s website.
