Dr. Malakaj awarded Jacob & Wilhelm Grimm Prize

Dr. Ervin Malakaj (Department of Central, Eastern and Northern European Studies) has been selected to receive the Jacob and Wilhelm Grimm Prize from the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), part of the German Foreign Ministry (Auswärtiges Amt). The award is given to one senior and one early career scholar and includes a stay in Germany and a €3,000 prize.

From the DAAD announcement:

This year’s award winners are exemplary ambassadors for the German language. Their services in German Studies lay the groundwork for exchange and mutual understanding. Their work sets a course for global interconnectedness and contribute to the advancement of cultural understanding. Moreover, with outstanding achievements in transnational teaching and research they have decisively advanced international collaborations at their home institutions.

The DAAD President, Prof. Dr. Joybrato Mukherjee, says in the announcement: “[The awardees’] research activity and engagement for international cooperation in German Studies enriches our landscape of knowledge. We are proud to be able to recognize them with this award and wish them continued success on their academic paths.”

The Jacob & Wilhelm Grimm Prize recognizes international scholars who have made outstanding contributions to international cooperation in German Studies beyond their scholarly accomplishments.
