Dr. Ervin Malakaj, Associate Professor of German Studies and Director of the UBC Centre for European Studies, was recently interviewed by Dr. Armanc Yildiz for the New Books Network.
The network celebrates recent scholarly works of note for the public and is available as a podcast. The interview focuses on Dr. Malakaj’s 2023 book Anders als die Andern (McGill Queen’s University Press). The book is the first major English-language book-length study of Richard Oswald’s iconic 1919 film, Anders als die Andern (Different from the Others), which is one of the earliest feature films about same sex love between two men.
