MA student Rachel Helmer was featured in the “Meet our Students” spotlight series on the UBC Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies website.
Rachel joined the Department of Central, Eastern and Northern European Studies’ Germanic Studies program in January 2022, and is interested in the research topic of racism and residential school participation in German-language Mennonite literature.
“My program allows graduate students to pursue their own individual interests. For example, I have been using my knowledge of German to research German-language literature. My colleagues also treat me as a human being, as opposed to a robot expected to perform no matter what the cost, and that is very refreshing.”
