GERM 409 – The City of Berlin in German Film

In this course we will watch a selection of German films that engage the city of Berlin as a focal point. Either mobilizing Germany’s capital thematically or filmed on location in Berlin, this course examines the city as a character in German cinema. We will begin with German expressionism and end with the Berlin School of filmmaking, covering a variety of genres and historical periods in between.
