Paid Internship and Funded Study Abroad Opportunity through Bauhaus-Universität Weimar, Germany



Internship

Bauhaus University, a respected research university located in Weimar, Germany, is offering a paid internship as part of the EUErasmus-programme for UBC undergraduate or graduate students.

Key Facts

  • The internship would entail work at one of the central cultural institutions in Germany: the Goethe and Schiller Archive (Klassik Stiftung Weimar). Students would work as digital editorial interns on various digitization projects at the archive under the direction of Prof. Dr. Jörg Paulus.
  • The internship is for three months, is residential, and would offer students an excellent opportunity to expand their studies with an exciting professional opportunity.
  • You would receive training, extensive supervision, and will also have access to various cultural institutions operated by the Klassik-Stiftung Weimar, such as Herzogin Anna Amalia Bibliothek, Goethe-Nationalmuseum, the Bauhaus-Museum, Nietzsche-Archiv, and Franz Liszt-Haus.
  • The finalist will receive a 850 Euro monthly stipend (x 3 months) and would receive a one-time payment of 1,500 Euro to cover travel expenses. The total funding for this internship is 4,050 Euro.
  • Student housing can be provided at the monthly cost of about 400 Euro.
  • The internship dates are flexible: they can cover a three-month time-span between June 1 and August 31, 2022; or September 1, 2022 to March 31, 2023.

Eligibility

  • Strong demonstrated interest in German language and culture (e.g., German courses taken at UBC would be an asset), and/or interest in Media Studies.
  • German B1 minimum language requirement.
  • UBC Faculty of Arts undergraduate or graduate students.
  • Minimum 70% cumulative average.
  • Minimum 70% average in Term 1 of 21W.
  • Registered in full-time studies in Term 1 and Term 2 of the 2021/2022 academic year.
  • Completed Faculty of Arts writing requirement prior to participation in the summer program (e.g. WORDS 150 or ASTU).

Study Abroad

Bauhaus University, a respected research university located in Weimar, Germany, is offering two exchange spots for UBC Faculty of Arts undergraduate or graduate students and one scholarship in the amount of approximately 5700 Euros.

Key facts:

  • Two exchange spots available for UBC undergraduate or graduate students as part of the Study Mobility agreement between Bauhaus University and UBC Faculty of Arts.
  • One scholarship available to cover a 5-month stay during the German Winter Semester (September 2022 to February 2023). This includes German language course offered in September and covers the academic lecture period, or “Vorlesungszeit” in Weimar.
  • While on exchange, undergraduate students are registered in 15 credits at UBC and pay their normal tuition rate.
  • Graduate Students are eligible if full-time enrolled in a UBC program in the winter term 2022/23.
  • Transfer up to 15 credits back to UBC.
  • The selected students will be required to register with Go Global and pay the Go Global fee of $415.
  • All other travel and living expenses will be covered by the students, to which the scholarship money may be applied.
