Book Launch: Thomas Salumets

profiles_unforced-flourishing_book_Salumets_2014We are pleased to announce the publication of Unforced Flourishing: Understanding Jaan Kaplinski (McGill-Queen’s University Press 2014) by Thomas Salumets.

The book is an introduction to Estonia’s internationally best-known writer and intellectual.

The first major study in English of one of Eastern Europe’s most important literary figures, Unforced Flourishing details Kaplinski’s embrace of that which is undifferentiated, intuitive, non-calculative, and natural in the modern world.

“Unforced Flourishing is a major advance in world literature research. Salumets’s discussion of ‘dissent’ and the poet’s relation to Soviet power is fresh and enlightening.”
Guntis Šmidchens, University of Washington.
