Dr. Kyle Frackman and Dr. Ervin Malakaj presented at the Queer Art of Feeling conference, which took place at Murray Edwards College, University of Cambridge, May 2-3, 2019. From the conference’s call for papers: “This conference explores the potential of the arts to represent, explore, challenge and create modes of queer lived, felt and embodied experience. Taking ‘feeling’ in all its meanings – touch, hapticity, sensation, emotion, a hunch or gut reaction, as well as tentativeness when ‘feeling one’s way’ – the conference will explore the complex relationships to culture and society that are at stake in queer artworks and queer experience.”
Dr. Frackman presented on “The Orientation of the Living Room: Queer Eroticism and Cultural Critique within East German Domestic Spaces.” Dr. Malakaj presented on “Feeling Hirschfeld.”
