Two CENES faculty members selected for Killam Teaching Prize

Two faculty members from the Department of Central, Eastern and Northern European Studies selected for the 2023 Killam Teaching Prize.

UBC is one of six Killam institutions, and offers yearly awards from the Killam Endowment Fund to faculty and teaching assistants who demonstrate excellence in teaching. The Killam Teaching Prize is awarded annually to faculty nominated by students, colleagues and alumni in recognition of excellence in teaching.

The UBC Faculty of Arts awarded six recipients for the 2023 Killam Prize winners, two of which are CENES’ own Florian Faller and Dr. Kyle Frackman.

Florian Faller, CENES German Studies Lecturer, told UBC Arts, that he is “very excited and happy to receive this recognition after teaching here at UBC since 2001. I feel very fortunate about the students I had and have the privilege to work with!”

In his quote for Arts, Frackman said, “I feel privileged and honoured to be selected for this award,” he continued. “To me, an award like this also recognizes all my past teachers whose approaches and efforts have helped to shape my own and my students from whom I continue to learn a great deal.”

More information about the award can be found on the Provost and Vice-President, Academic’s website.
