Dr. Tim Frandy’s research and teaching will enrich students’ knowledge of Nordic and Arctic history, literature, art, languages, and society from the perspective of Sámi and other Indigenous communities.
CENES Remembers UBC’s First Female Faculty Member
Professor Isabel MacInnes served as Chairman of the German section of the Modern Languages Department from 1915 to 1946, when a separate Department of German was established. Dr. MacInnes also served as Head of the new department until her retirement in 1948.
Centre for European Studies Launches
Formerly known as the Institute for European Studies and housed in the Department of Political Science, the Centre moved into the CENES Department in the fall, and took on a new mandate to become a multidisciplinary home for the critical study of Europe.
